Today was a public holiday (see yesterday's entry) and everything was closed except the cafés which were doing a great business. The sun was out for a lot of the day too.

The school kids were out in force again with their marching and drumming and having a great time. There were priests and lots of dignataries laying wreaths and then more marching and drumming through the lined streets. It was quite moving to see.

It is a special day tomorrow in Greece. It's called Ohi Day or No Day and is celebrated throughout Greece and Greek communities around the world on October 28 each year, to commemorate the rejection by Greek Prime Minister Ioannis Mextaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Mussolini on October 28 in 1940 demanding that Greece allow Axis forces to enter Greek territory and occupy certain strategic locations ...

... beaches around the island. I was thankful we hadn't opted for the private beach as we were getting sand blasted near the water.

We managed to get lost of course. We'd seen a little cafe and tried to find our way back to it. After we'd passed the same shop 3 times we gave up and headed to the waterfront. Once we got our bearings, we found the cafe. There's nothing that says holiday more than ...

... was just doing simple little things like listening to music on my iPhone, while sunbaking, and occasionally splashing away in the pool. I’ve never partied so hard in my life. I even lost my voice for two days, and that’s completely rare for me, as the last and only other time I’ve lost my voice was when I was a kid with a cold. A combination of late nights, drinking, dancing, baking, jet lag and smoking all finally got the better of me. But I do know that ...
