... here- but only on the northwest corner of the beach, which is surrounded by a 6-foot-tall fence of palm fronds so that the locals' eyes don't bleed when they see us in bathing suits. Much like the camouflaged beer in Galle, apparently if you don't SEE something, it ceases to exist. Anyway. It is just a short walk from our hotel, and it was quite interesting to see local women in black full-length abayas, while all the tourists were in beachwear. (things I've learned in ...

My final dive of the day is on the Kuda Guri Wreck. I have been here earlier in the week but with little light penetration was unable to get good photos. It is a decommissioned cargo ship, and no one is exactly sure when it was sunk there. There were a few families with small children (this is not an island to bring small kids to) but as predicted Karen and I were only non couple and nobody really talked (that's why we got to chat to the staff). We tried to get a few sneaky shots ...

... large white tips and a few more eagle rays. Really nice.

And that was it. My last dive :(

So we began the long sail back to Male. Across glass flat water. It was a lovely crossing. But industrialisation soon became much clearer. No more were the deserted waters and beautiful islands. But the big city, tonnes of boats. And the continual burning of 'rubbish island'.

We moored up and at 4pm headed off to the bright lights of the city of Male. This is ...

... up close in real life. The water here is unbelievable. Its so baby blue, clear as your bath water, and its not just in some places. Its everywhere. The whole ocean is full of it. Every island we passed had the same beauty. Most islands were about the same size, but some of the resorts were more grand with the Huts that stood out in the water more fabulous. Christine and I look over at each other and smile...she says to me" you did great Elizabeth " I really did this time ...
