We walked the canal into the local town Lochgilphead and took the bus back.

Another important tidal gate is in the Sound of Islay, through which we motored North today.
It divides the islands of Islay and Jura, is 8 miles long and narrows to 5 cables (that's half a nautical mile for any land lubbers) .

... we went ahsore and explored. For your own information I would recommend Wikipedia. I went south to Achamore Gardens, which were nice enough, though past their peak.
