Nakonec jsme vlak v pohode stihli. Jen jsme prisli o chvili pozdeji nez ostatni, tak vznikl mensi problem s mistem na nase krosny. Nakonec se to i pres protesty nekterych nasich spolucestujicich vyresilo. A v 19.42 jsme vyrazili smer vychod.

... so happy that I was able to hold a panda. The staff did a great job of taking photos, but they did not turn the video recorder on. When I was done I tried to watch the video and show Bill and realized that she turned it on when I was done. The worst part is that she realized and shut it off and did not give me a chance to get some video. For 1,000 yuan it would have been nice to get the video too. I was devastated and shed a few tears. Thankfully we have some really ...
Chengdu, Sichuan, China theresabill... Australia where flies tend to make a beeline for orifices, a couple of bugs are not going to make me dislike a place.
The old section was extremely atmospheric. The noodles and spicy beans (ganbian yundou, a local speciality) were excellent and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself drinking Snow beer again, although a slightly more alcoholic version than they sell in Wuhan. Mind you, those Wuhanese probably don't need any extra alcohol in their beer, as they are ...
... century. He´s not doing to bad for his age too. We had a great day wondering the town and looking up to dafo´s massif size. We even climb up to his head to look in his seven meter ears ( just a bit bigger than mine ). We finally manage to extend our visa too ( though they only gave me 10 days while Maja got thirty) after the fifth attempt, so a good day all round ...
Chengdu, Sichuan, China barryandmaja... by the national response to the tragedy. The post-Cultural Revolution spoilt, single-child, urban generation had been careening towards an existential angst caused by its relentless pursuit of material goods. The sudden realisation of enormous tragedy amidst stoic poverty, in a world which people in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other rich cities found almost alien, was a cathartic event. All China seemed to realise that the rediscovery and celebration of ...
Chengdu, Sichuan, China happysheep... for the challenge, but I had to insist that I was driving home and couldn't drink. They even offered me a bed for the night. There were sixteen people at the table, all of them related in some way. I asked the chef if the family was okay after the earthquake. At first he replied that everything was okay. A few minutes later, he told me that they had lost their homes and were sleeping outside. Then he told me that there were still 7 family members missing in ...
Chengdu, China throwerw... Mao statue and head over to it. It's really tall. We were about to cross the street to go towards the statue, and this girl stopped Zoe and asked if she could take a picture with her. It was a pretty unusual request, but after talking to her for a bit Zoe found out that she's never had a picture with a foreigner before, so we said ok. She had her friend with the camera all ready and took the picture. I was worried about it at first, thinking it was some ...
Chengdu, China jesseandzoe... mysterious disappearing minibus driver and ended up having to call on the help of a security guard - another exciting game of charades ensued! Overall we weren't that impressed by Chengdu, especially the street maps, which Dave insists were just plain wrong and on the food front, things got a whole lot worse here when we spotted a row of freshly prepared dog hung up in a local restaurant! Thank goodness for the fabulous pandas which made this place worth the whirlwind overnight stop.
