Here I am, sitting in my tiny little room, in a beautiful wooden chalet looking out onto a snowy landscape. Today is the second day of snow and it's only October. I have been predicting an early winter for weeks now and am rather happy that my predictions have come true.
To glad to be home I recall my recent trip to Ardeche, South of France. As customary for this time of year it was windy and cold. Non the ...

An early start as we intended to go to Lauterbrunnen and then catch a later train to Lucerne. We caught a bus from Lauterbrunnen to Trummelbach Falls and were the only ones at the falls for a while. It was so quiet that we could hear the cow bells. Trummelbach Falls is actually 10 glacier waterfalls inside a mountain in Lauterbrunnen Valley. This drains the water from the 3 major mountains which we saw on Friday-the Monch ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland kiama_on_tourTime to get the car and drive to Buonas! We decide to drive to Lucerne before arriving in Buonas. There's this wooded bridge Andy wanted to see. What a good decision that was. Lucerne was amazingly beautiful and totally worth the extra 30 minutes in the car. We had lunch by the river, and took pics of the bridge before arriving in Buonas.
Lucerne, Switzerland avalentino... are works of art protruding from the towers, and in front of the cathedral is a beautiful bench with fun creatures wrapping themselves around it.
When we were almost out of time on the meter we made our way back to the car and continued east through Switzerland.
I've been in Switzerland for just a few hours, and I've already discovered that the Swiss are much friendlier than Americans. I’ve heard more please-and-thank-yous (in English, German and French) since my Swiss Air flight took off than I’ve ever heard at Logan. And not only that — they serve complimentary wine on board. And they smile. Maybe international travel isn’t so bad after all.
My flight looked to be ...

So back to Milan - we had a short stopover, and then it was back on another train to Zurich. Another very comfortable first class train. The scenery was nothing short of amazing - there are no words to describe how utterly beautiful the landscape was. You will just have to look at the photos!!
We arrived in Zurich mid afternoon, and after Jase having an ...
... docked boats. I tell you... the Swiss sure do know how to put together a wine expo. Think elegant (did you catch the part about the boats?), think of the best Swiss local and European wineries, but perhaps more importantly...think UNLIMITED tastings!!!! Yes, that's right...unlimited tasting of 4000 wines! ....Hmmmm can you say, tipsy before 4pm??? Or "when ALL ...
Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland hikinggirlSitting in a train station at two in the morning is not fun when there are drunk Austrians about. The one dude took a liking to Claudia so I had to impose myself on him and he finely got the message without blood being shed. Anyway, safe and sound in the land of chocolate and watches....dumped our bags in a locker and off we ...
Zürich, Switzerland dawieboy... Here in Switzerland there are Fasnacht celebrations in many cities staggered over several weeks. Zürich Fasnacht was March 3-5, while Basel's Fasnacht was March 5-7 this year. We saw advertisements for other Fasnacht celebrations as early as the third week in February. It really is too bad we missed it, but we can't do everything, and we can't control the weather. For more information about Fasnacht check out the following ...
