    ... detail! The curios were handcrafted coming from different parts of Mexico, the colorful wooden cupboard and headboard were skillfully carved. At first I thought their house was a compound of apartments, but is actually their whole place. It's big.

    After showing me around and giving me the keys, I proceeded on my 'walkabout town' and checked the places along the main street of Avenue Juarez.

    ... over the balcony and kiss the boy whom she'd fallen in love with, so he killed her. (That's not nearly as poetic as the version the guide we happened to overhear told, but it gets the point across.) So, now it's good luck (though it seems like it should be bad luck, seeing as the girl died) for couples to kiss on the third step of the alleyway. (Not sure where the third step part came from. The guide didn't say anything about that.)

    ... we found ourselves on the famed steep steps with the universal language of dance—Pitbull—blaring through the speakers. An impromptu dance off on the University steps, I finally felt like I was traveling.

    ... beautiful. The sky was clear with a few cottony white clouds. It was absolutely beautiful.

    Lunch was good today. We had chayote soup again. I’d like to learn how to make it, but I’m not sure I’d be able to find chayote in the U.S. I think it is just a Mexican fruit/vegetable.
