... with koffie and sukerbollen, a typical Frisian (translation: calorically dense) dessert -- consisting of the usual suspect ingredients including sugar, white flour and lots of butter !
After getting nearly blown off the dike at Hindeloopen ( ancestral town of part of my mother's side, the Hinlopen's) we raced home, determined to get to Amsterdam for an open-air viewing of the Dutch-Argentina World Cup semi-final........

... The tulips are 98% gone! but the gardens are still amazing! You just had to be there. Pavilions contained different types of flowers. When we got to all the cut lilies I thought that if heaven had a fragrance this might be it! I really can not imagine this places if all the tulip beds were blooming. will try to include photos, but I had to add yesterday's one at a time. Ed's pedometer had 5 1/2 miles on it! He did some more than us.
Care: We woke up bright and early today and got yummy breakfast at our hotel. The croissants and the quark (which is like peach yogurt) are to die for. Then we started on our museum experience. We got a little lost on the way but we finally made it to the Rijk museum. This museum was closed for ten years for renovations, but just now reopened. It was amazing. Vermeer, Rembrant, Mondriaan, Monet, Van Gogh and more were here. My favorites ...
We left on Tuesday 2 July. Patrick, Annette and Gemma took us to Tullamarine and dropped us off @10:30. Liam and I were an hour early for checking in but that was fine, we were happy to have time to get organised and not worry about where to go. ... tried to get me to look at the fish market, but I ran off. He knows I can't eat fish, don't like the smell, the look is worse, and he just gets a kick out of it. We bought our treats, tasted some amazing samples of fresh mango (so sweet!) and cheese (so stinky!), then rode our bikes back home. Before we left I looked for tongue burn ointment, but alas they sold none.
