    ... with koffie and sukerbollen, a typical Frisian (translation: calorically dense) dessert -- consisting of the usual suspect ingredients including sugar, white flour and lots of butter !

    After getting nearly blown off the dike at Hindeloopen ( ancestral town of part of my mother's side, the Hinlopen's) we raced home, determined to get to Amsterdam for an open-air viewing of the Dutch-Argentina World Cup semi-final........

    ... may have cursed us against getting to ride a bicycle through the city like we always wanted to do but nearly being run over on several occasions was probably close enough of an experience anyway!! Haha The dread of airports and goodbyes nearly got the better of me as we said goodbye to our third amigo :( but anticipation broke through the post Amsterdam fatigue as we made our way on to the next stop... Budapest!!! Missing all and lots of love ...

    8/11 today is our last day of the cruise :(. We are at sea today & we spent a few hours in the morning packing our bags & getting ready for tomorrow. It is very chilly & windy today so there is no chance we will be enjoying the pool:(. We had some lunch & basically napped the afternoon away until we dressed for dinner.     ... tried to get me to look at the fish market, but I ran off. He knows I can't eat fish, don't like the smell, the look is worse, and he just gets a kick out of it. We bought our treats, tasted some amazing samples of fresh mango (so sweet!) and cheese (so stinky!), then rode our bikes back home. They are scantily clad and not shy about knocking on the windows to get your attention. However, they will not harass you and will not follow you down the street.
