    ... 000 more bikes than people in the city. It's an amazing way to get around as the city is quite small and we covered a lot of ground in the day. My favourite place was Vondelpark, Amsterdam's own Central Park. We also stopped at a brewery, Brouwerij't IJ that is right outside an authentic windmill.     ... with koffie and sukerbollen, a typical Frisian (translation: calorically dense) dessert -- consisting of the usual suspect ingredients including sugar, white flour and lots of butter !

    After getting nearly blown off the dike at Hindeloopen ( ancestral town of part of my mother's side, the Hinlopen's) we raced home, determined to get to Amsterdam for an open-air viewing of the Dutch-Argentina World Cup semi-final........

    ... canal boat again and went to the Rijksmuseum to visit the park outside. Daniel & Blake discovered a fountain that they played in while Kim and I enjoyed a break in the clouds. We wandered up the park and found a nice place to have a picnic snack. While there, we were entertained by the many dogs that people were walking and playing with as well as a little toddler who was dancing along to the guitar that a young guy in the park was playing. Chris & Priscilla were with us and the more time we spend together, the better we get to know each other. They love Wayne's and my story & are really happy for us.     ... was spent riding the hop-on hop-off bus around the city. One highlight was a visit to Gassan Diamonds where we learned about the processes involved in cutting diamonds, watched diamond cutters at work, and sat down at a table with a woman who, using tens of thousands of dollars worth of diamonds as examples, explained the grading methods used to value diamonds.
