      ... with koffie and sukerbollen, a typical Frisian (translation: calorically dense) dessert -- consisting of the usual suspect ingredients including sugar, white flour and lots of butter !

      After getting nearly blown off the dike at Hindeloopen ( ancestral town of part of my mother's side, the Hinlopen's) we raced home, determined to get to Amsterdam for an open-air viewing of the Dutch-Argentina World Cup semi-final........

      ... We then start trying to get back to the hostel.       ... tried to get me to look at the fish market, but I ran off. He knows I can't eat fish, don't like the smell, the look is worse, and he just gets a kick out of it. We bought our treats, tasted some amazing samples of fresh mango (so sweet!) and cheese (so stinky!), then rode our bikes back home. Before we left I looked for tongue burn ointment, but alas they sold none.
