... to stand for an hour crushed up against the gate door so I could be at the front of that Ryanair line. Even talking to an agent at the airport is free unlike Ryanair charging to use the counter (I check in online and prefer not to interact with anyone there). And Ryanair charges a credit card convenience fee to pay the counter fee anyway! So if you know the rules and play nicely within them, Ryanair is a great deal.

Today we had a special treat with breakfast, loukoumathes, light, yet
fried donut holes covered with honey and cinnamon. We took a van to
Lagadha, and started up the donkey path to a little church high above
the village. From there we went to a saddle where there were ruins of
windmills, previously used to grind grain. We continued along the
ridge and then around the side of Mt. Kourkelos to a sheer cliff drop
off wher we had fantastic ...
... everyone went to bed immediately and slept until
breakfast at 8. It was a slow moving group today that headed out of
the village on a rocky stony donkey trail called a calderinia.
We made our way up to an 8th century monastery and church, founded on
the location where John the Evangelist lived. Apparently he could gaze
over at Patmos and decided it was better, so off he went for a little
apocalyptical journaling.
During the hike we saw several donkeys ...
... campsite. This required us to bus back and try again, the second time with success. After checking out the monastary, we hitch hiked down to the water and rinsed off the sweat. That night we watched the Athens soccer team with the greeks at camping and learned a thing or two about football, and who were supposed to root for.

... lucky because the hotel owner’s wife operates a small restaurant in the hotel, and she is a great cook. Our favorite dish of hers was the puree of Fava Beans. We never had it anywhere nearly as good as how she prepared it- it was like silk, and wonderful.
After four relaxing days (which we needed after our busy two weeks in Santorini) we headed off on the ferry to return to Folegandros (see previous entry on Folegandros)
... on learning the cinema was in Nicosia, we instantly sacked off all thoughts of Famagusta and were heading back to Nicosia with him, where, bedraggled and smelly we pitched up on Clare and Simon's doorstep once more. The next day, after a lot of deliberating, we decided it best to offload our tent and roll mats as they had served their purpose and wouldn't be very practical in the blistering Middle Eastern heat. Thank you Clare and Simon!
Larnaca, Cyprus vague-abondingAfter tiring night trip from Paros to Amorgos, one day to rest was necessary. Yeepee, the beach is really coooool. Then we had nice walks in the rocky heights of Amorgos, but worthy for the great views!! We also went to visit the town/places where Le Grand Bleu was shot. Most important, we had amazing food!!
Amorgos, Greece andreea.kao... wine, which once again we felt obliged to try some with dinner, where I had the most delicious swordfish dinner I have ever tasted, mmmm, so so good. The beach closest to where we were staying has black volcanic sand over it, making it a very different beach to be on. Just up the coast a little is the red beach, where the sand on the beach is actually tinged red because of the ...
Santorini, Greece lizconnieOur ferry from Mykonos to Ios had been delayed. To make matters worse, I had sat in a huge wad of gum and a sand storm had just arrived, leaving us in gritty uncomfortableness, a black-red sand now covering every inch of my body - in my hair, eyes and mouth. Our ferry, the 'flying cat' finally arrived, apparently delayed because of very stormy, rough waters, and I knew my day was just going on a downward spiral. It ...
Ios, Greece krissyA beautiful Island with few people and fewer tourists. Stay at Marias, everywhere else is basic. The restaurant on the western edg of the harbour is great with great views. A walk over to the east has a fabulous beach. Would be a paradise were it not for the wasps. It was like a bad re-make of the Wicker Man.
