Pa Klang is a great village to explore. There are three groups who make up the village: Hmong, Mien, and Lua. When you come to the village, you would believe it is a regular Thai village, but once you start listening to conversations, you will find a wide variety of languages spoken. The village is set up on a hill above Sila Laeng. There are three large schools, a few small churches, a small supermarket, and a gorgeous lake. The ...

They fly all over Southeast Asia, China, Australia, and London. The prices, especially to Australia and London, are extremely cheaper than any other airline I have seen. Depending on where you are at the time, when you book flights you sometimes ...

Just outside of the wat, you will notice a short building that looks like a flat dome with a doorway. Go in the doorway, and see a very interesting depiction of Hell.
Just west of Wat Phumin, you will find Wat Min Muang. (On your way over to Wat Min Muang, you should buy some sticky rice sold in bamboo from one of the street venders here; they ...
... local people. I was taught to make fire with metal and stone. Dinner was had with Mr. Lee at Baan Huay Yuok and it was delicious. As by this stage we were getting many different and sometimes conflicting information, Khun Moo decided to invite Mr Lee to the Mlabri village where we could talk to the Mlabri elders, Mr Lee and the Thai government staff all together ...
Nan, Thailand paulSo, Chiang Mai was as full of tourists, as Nan was empty of them. We arrived late in the evening, which in Nan, means around 8 PM. We took a pickup over to our guesthouse, and he pulled up in front of a very dimly lit place, well, a house really. We weren't sure when he started calling out to someone if this was our place or if he had made a pit stop to call in on one of his buddies ...
Nan, Nan, Thailand tomandamanda... and is being renamed Offbeat Thailand which is a much better description of the trip (if not our aspirations). The following day in Nan was spent on a fairly uninspiring trek, although that night we were placed with our families as part of the village homestay experience. Had this part excluded Nichloe (explain later) this would have been a lovely 48 hours in the company of some really nice people experiencing a real ...
Nan, Thailand zer0433... chest swelled, my eyes lit up, and a smile stayed plastered across my face for 48 hours. And then it was done. All good things must come to an end. There was, however, one slight interruption to my happiness. Outside of a 7-11, I set my helmet on my bike's seat. It fell and cracked the visor. Maybe it's not even worth mentioning, but I hate to give no details. Jon and I also got to know Jamie better. We already knew he was a really nice guy, but once he ...
Nan, Thailand dogeleven... While at the temle it was amusing to see three children hurry inside on our arrival shouting to their parents "farangs farang" - foreigners! They then spoke very good English to us. Noodle soup The best part of Nan was the street restuarants and the noodle soups - we had three bowls in different places that day and they were all super cheap and absolutely delicious and probably the thing I will remember best about Nan.
Nan, Thailand slp... about fifty cents. While in Kengtung, we hired a guide and trekked through the mountains, visiting a variety of hilltribe villages. Our guide was great, as he himself is a Shan member (the predominant tribe in the Shan state, where we were staying), and he spoke all the different tribal languages, as well as Chinese, English, Burmese, and Thai. We were a bit apprehensive about the trek -- we thought it would be uncomfortable and feel like we were just ...
Chiang Rai, Thailand koppersHello again! I believe I left off with us in Chiang Mai, on the night before heading off to Nan. Well, right after e-mailing we wandered down to the river for some "stall noodles", as I've come to know and love them. They are a perfect fit since they taste great and only cost about a third as much as restaurant food. From there we were movie-bound, and we finally managed to catch Castaway following several failed attempts, both at theatres and VCD ...
