... We, the other three, decide we should drive to a "nearby" beach. It's about 5 klms away so off we go. Before you know it I'm confidently driving down a one way. The wrong way. Minor problem. We're on our way. Paul has the map in the back. Lisa is asking if he can see such and such street. Paul says "Do you see anything that starts with a K". The street signs are in Latin and Ćirilic when they're there. We get lost and found and lost again. Leaving ...

It has been a very strategic location due to the deep natural port it overlooks. Kathy decided to attempt yet another selfie and it was indeed epic.

Today's experience was completely different. I doubt there is a more charming and beautiful place on earth. Chania overlooks the Aegean Sea against a stunning mountain backdrop. We had no tour planned for the day. So we just walked around and got lost in the ...

... down to the beach. Bob made it all the way in but I decided to just dip my feet in as it just seemed like too much work to struggle into my suit while wrapped in a towel. Oh, and the beach was rocky. Our ferry to the tiny town of Sougia didn't board until 6 pm and didn't actually leave until about 7 pm. On the boat we chatted to several members of an Irish hiking club who had also walked down the gorge. ...

Day 1 was a driving and site seeing day. We arrived in Chania in mid afternoon which gave us enough time to get our bearings and spend most of the daylight hours around the lighthouse. Bob must have 500 pictures of this area including some fabulous sunset pictures. He has so many that when we found a tasteful tee shirt of Chania with an outline of the lighthouse I made him buy it! The official name of the lighthouse seems to be the ...
