Historical Traveler Reviews of Amigo Hotel Brussels
Elegant Comfort
from A TripAdvisor Member
Located at the Epitome of Brussels, between the Grand Place and the Manequin Pis, the Hotel Amigo sets the standard for elegant understatement and five star service in Brussels. Every detail is executed to unflinching standards, and I give this establishment my highest recommendation. Weekday rates are expensive, but budget travelers can enjoy moderate weekend rates. You can further save money by not dining in the hotel restaurant, which is also very good. Instead feast on Belgian Chocolates, Belgian Waffles, Belgian Beer, and other gastronomical wonders at the numerous street vendors and cafes on or near the Grand Place. The conceirge can also recommend numerous other restaurants in central Brussels worthy of your patronage. This is good living in Europes best kept secret.
Nice Nice Nice

What a great weekend...The Hotel Amigo is in an excellent location, 5 minute taxi from Eurostar and 5 minute walk to train station and to top it off, 30 second stroll from Grand Place. Located within strolling distance of great restaurants and street cafes. Beautiful and exceptionally clean hotel with excellent staff and nicely furnished rooms make it worth every penny. Some great deals available at weekends.

Some things nice. Other not. Doorman nice. Rooms pretty. Bathrooms great. Front desk staff unresponsive. Resturant staff terrible.

Spent a great weekend in Brussels and stayed in this great hotel with its fine atmosphere in a well balanced mixture of classic and contemporary design. To this place we promised ourselves to return a.s.a.p.
Americans Beware
from A TripAdvisor Member
Nice room and everything was okay until breakfast when they refused to serve myself and my wife - Talk about rude. When I complained to the front desk manager he offered me an expresso in place of a 26 euro breakfast that was included in the price. Then when I checked out they proudly indicated they did not charge me for the 26 euro breakfast that was included..what a deal for over 200 euros a night. Dining staff were ******** and do not like Americans.
Just beautiful!

Since its extensive refurbishment a few years ago the Amigo belongs to my absolute favourites. Rooms are beautifully styled, sometimes even cheerful. Decor and architecture form a perfect symbiosis between modern comforts and the building's long history. The one week point about the place is the staff who are always very efficient and cool, but never welcoming.
Amigo Rates the Highest

The Hotel Amigo has a great location around the corner from Grand Place and in the opposite direction, some great restaurants as well as some casual street cafes. Excellent staff and nicely furnished rooms make it worth a return. All amenities are available and the small lounge is a welcome place to have a quiet drink. Concierge and front desk staff are THE BEST!
A great way to relax.

Spent Valentines weekend in this hotel, very romantic, staff very friendly, there is something special about this hotel, very comfortable, atmosphere relaxed. Great way to destress for a weekend. Another bonus you are right in the heart of Brussels. Highly recommended weekend rates very interesting
Great hotel, great location

This is a great hotel with one of the best locations in Brussels. It is a very large hotel, with friendly yet efficient service. The single room I paid for turned out to be a large double, with another small room at the entry and very large marble bathroom. Although it is on a very busy street, the glass is glazed and the drapes are extremely heavy, so noise is not a problem. I would stay here again.
Superlative croissants
from BornTooLoose
We enjoyed our visit in 2000 so much that we came back for a shorter stay in 2001. The earlier stay was much better, and the croissants served with the free continental breakfast remain the best we've ever had. On the second visit, the staff was not quite as accommodating (I heard there had been labor troubles) and the croissants weren't quite as good as they had been. The Amigo is a fine building very conveniently located in old Brussels, right around the corner from the Grande Place.
