This was our last day in Bol - we were to catch a ferry to Hvar island and were staying in Hvar town. When we were checking out I was asked to carry a shopping bag to Hvar - apparently this was left behind by a French couple who had been staying at the same B&B and were now in Hvar. The samaritan in me came out and agreed - who the hell cares about not carrying packages for others - security schmecurity. On arriving on the island of Hvar we once again had to get a cab as Hvar town was on ...

Hvar town by way of Bosnia

I head straight to the old town to do a walk on the city walls before finding a good spot at the hotel beach to finally fall asleep for a few hours. I wake up and grab the "complementary" breakfast yet again before returning to my "bed" and falling asleep for another hour or so. Phin and I have lunch, say goodbye to Irina, and hop in the car to head up to Hvar. We drive through Bosnia and Herzigovinia and make it to the Ferry terminal no more than five minutes after it left. We pass the time ...

Relaxing in Hvar Heaven

We wake up slowly and wind up extending our stay in Hvar another night but have to change rooms. We set up shop at the hotel pool and enjoy a relaxing day by the pool and beach doing not much of anything other than having fun and meeting new people, including a family of Haitians (3 sisters and a brother) travelling around Europe for the summer who I had seen at Villa Argentina in Dubrovnik. An evening nap, Phin's genius idea, serves us well to prepare us for the night to come. We start the n...

Can't get enough of Hvar!

Once again we decide to extend our glorious stay at the Amfora hotel in Hvar and completely write-off Split. We wake up just in time to get the last available room and surprise, surprise, we have to change rooms again. We head down to the port and rent a yacht, ok a little boat, for the day. We chug over to a nearby island for lunch and a day of fun in the sun at the beach. Back in time for an evening nap, we wake up later than planned and make it to Carpe Diem by 11:30 and meet up with the H...

Split - quiet but good weather

... and making sure we had everything we needed.

Just went and had a short walk around and baked trout dinner at Serum which was a cool little place like being in someones living room.
Went to a couple of bars afterwards and found out why it was so quiet in Split - Sunday is the "day of the dead" (the way the barman in the first bar explained it to me) which is the day of the year that everyone visits the graves of their ...

What we thought would be a vacation...

... were stepping off the ferry, hoards of people were shouting to us, “Do you need accommodation?!” It was all the locals who have sobes. They all wait at the ferry dock to “attack” tourists when they are walking off the plank. We then had to choose between three different people who had gotten to us, all trying to convince us to rent their place simultaneously. It’s really hard to listen to three Croatians who barely ...

... about to watch our second sunset here-it truly is a highlight so far for us. Originally we were only going to stay one night and drive into Split today, but the beauty of having Fred means that is we like a place, we can stay longer :) Our third campsite in Croatia is by far the best; I had to really force myself away from doing nothing to write this! Although I have to admit that I have a million dollar view while writing it :)

Splitsville for Andy and Lynne

... got on the tube, clearly having a fun evening. One of them had a huge Afro (LJ is convinced it was a wig), and was sporting a fanny pack filled with alcohol minis - like they serve on airplanes. He also had some sort of women's bathing suit over his t-shirt. We got quite a kick out of them, and LJ was convinced it was a bachelor party of sorts. Well, they alighted the train at our stop, and we struck up a conversation with one of the unruly friends, who confirmed LJ's hypothesis ...

The start of the beautiful quiet lazy islands....

... before Pete came back to share his story. He had headed to the same bay - we saw his scooter - and got lost the same as we did. However, he didn´t turn around but kept heading toward another bay and found some fisherman who shared some local wine and fish with him. He had a great time - if only we´d kept walking as well! Capping off a great day, we shared some fried fresh squids and fish on the marina for dinner. No early night - even though we needed to catch the 5.30am ferry.
