POTOS - a popular village in Thasos Island



This village is approximately 40 kms from Kinira, the place where we stay.

It has a small port for sailing and fishing boats, and it is very popular with tourists.



Crowds of people are walking through its narrow streets, and vendors are anxiously trying to sell their ...

... a completely different picture. The umbrellas and seats stand on the beach and remain empty. It is as if they are calling for company.





Anyway, I feel so privileged being out here!

Most of my friends are back to work, and I am still enjoying my summer holidays. What else could I want!

... streets are quite narrow, and it is a bit hard to find a parking space.



It is here in this beach called Hrisi Amoudia – Golden Beach in English- that I came to have access on the internet and check my e mails. It is not very far from Kinira, the place where our hotel was.

... has changed, - even us have changed!
Why should I expect to find things as I had left them so many years ago?
Probably because I had so many good memories of those days!

The scenery up the mountains are indeed more than my expectations.
From up here we can see Kavala, and Keramoti, and the whole coast.
The drive up here is pleasant, having the two friends talking about their past.

Unfortunately, another closed Monastery. It seems that we are not wellcomed at Monasteries.
It is the wrong timing actually! Again it is 2.15 pm and the monasteries are closed.

There are goats scattered all over the nearby hills with their bells ringing! A real Greek village indeed. But I have already missed the beach so much, so off we go…..

... It's not that I don’t fancy this season, but I just want to enjoy the beach as well. At least until our summer holidays are over!









The weather is getting better and better, and before we go to the beach, we decide to move on to another popular village……(next entry)
