... candy and flowers ("Kamillo" and "Trushia"), but we also learned the names and a few lyrics of the 3 famous German songs we heard playing all weekend. The songs have now been on repeat on all of our Itunes for the past week... By the end of the parade, we boarded the bus back home with a bag full of candies, chocolates, and flowers.
Although we arrived back to Freiburg to a week full of midterms and deadlines for papers, our carnival weekend made it totally worth it.

The people in the parade looked incredible - there were so many marching bands and amazing uniforms, it looked spectacular. The floats were decorated beautifully aswell! The elderly couple managed to climb 533 steps to the top of Cologne Cathedral this morning so despite the adverse comments yesterday we are not quite dead yet. A very tiring day spent wandering round Cologne, quite a nice city with lots of squares and car free zones. Most of the buildings are new on account of some work done by the British in 1944. I woke up this morning and had a shower first thing, then sorted out my laundry after I discovered the hotel had a laundry service, I just have to have my laundry down to reception before 9am. So I went down to reception at 8:30 to take down my laundry (almost all my clothes need washing and I am down to my last pairs of underwear!) however, no laundry service on Sundays -_-. I bought a few trinkets here in Cologne and hit the Hard Rock cafe here in Cologne, other than that Glenn and I really didn't enjoy this city as much as the others on our trip. We are still having fun though and tonight is the farewell reception. We have a couple more nights left but will be coming home next Saturday after a few days in Amsterdam.
