Very nice hotel; a bit different atmosphere from the more quaint, family-run places we've been staying. Breakfast had a great selection of items, except for variety of fruit. Great location a block from the river and only two blocks from the train station.

Sights along the way: beautiful waterfalls; animal carvings throughout the mountains; turquoise lakes; big churches; lots of cows--some with such huge bells around their necks don't know how they kept their heads up.

I have to say though, you don't really need to be able to speak German to get around in Switzerland. They really do all pretty much speak or at least understand English.

... everywhere-on the trains, buses, to destinations like Mount Pilatus where the dogs ride in the gondolas like everyone else. There are lots of cows here, like the sound effects at Zurich Airport implied. Yes, they do wear bells. They say the bells make the cows happy. That is really hard to believe. I think it would be really annoying to have a bell around my neck all day. Could you imagine sleeping and being woken by ...
