The fifth day, we trained at the largest chicken plant in the nation: Mountaire. We flew to North Carolina. The people were so nice there! They loved what they did and that made me smile. They gave us a tour of the chicken plant and I don't know what I was thinking when I agreed to do it. I thought it would be fun, but instead, I have now become a vegetarian I think.
We started the tour and it seemed fine as you can tell in the pictures. We just saw the chickens frozen and cut in half...

... then catch a boat to the island of Roatan the following morning. We will stay there for a couple of days and hang out at the beach, and hopefully visit the rainforest, and the monkey habitat where we can hold capuchin monkeys! On Christmas day, we will depart the island very early in the morning and then catch an early bus back to San Pedro Sula, where we will volunteer in an orphanage for the afternoon and enjoy ...

Daniel was gracious enough to pause the UNC basketball game and took me to the airport. It reminded me of 2 years ago when Greg Salazar and I were being dropped off in DC to embark on what was my first big backpacking trip, that time in Europe. Good memories. This time, however, I will be my own travel buddy. This does make me nervous, as I love to be around people! But reading our All Saints Church ...

... would be there. The show went well, except for one teacher who decided to try and film the whole show. An adult!! A teacher! What kind of example are these people setting for their students? He was escorted to the lobby and watched as he had to delete the footage. He they returned to his seat and enjoyed the rest of the show.
For the record... NEVER film or take any pictures of a show. It is against the law. And don't do it in front of your students. It ...

It's been almost two years since the first time I went abroad. Back then I was tired of the trivial hypotheticals and rote memorization of the academic world. It was superficial and fake. It was a game to be mastered. Memorize the formulas and practice tests, go to office hours, talk in class and with this the GPA improves. At the end of each semester my knowledge was negligibly increased - maybe some things had stuck ...

Most of the houses had attractive dark green shutters on the windows and well mown lawns. This wasprobably middle America at its finest. You knew that the mothers all baked apple pies and that everyone whole came through the front door shouted ''Hi Mom, I'm home"'. It was fantastic to see the neighbourhood so at ...
Raleigh, North Carolina, United States acfnoel... Finally, I got through to them that the bag needed to go to Orlando. I needed to go to Orlando. This must happen before tomorrow. I have to fly to Houston tomorrow. They asked if I wanted to just pick up the bag at the Orlando airport on my way to Houston. I said no, I might want to do some laundry. This is kind of like the Twilight Zone. The two of us just passing in airports, never quite catching up with each other, my poor little suitcase and me.
