    ... flashing lights must be hard to resist!

    You can walk for miles here along the strip and not actually go anywhere. You are kind of corralled along all the shop fronts and casinos and have no choice about wending your way through all these brightly lit modern day Aladdin's markets! Anyway, we get a downtown bus and the driver tells us the sign is "just up ahead at those traffic lights", which is sort of is, but actually about a mile away and in 47 ...

    ... and Leroy/Grumpy on Once Upon a Time. He was wonderful! Such a sweet guy.

    And I got to meet and speak briefly with Ethan Phillips when I asked him to sign my Star Trek cook book (which he co-wrote). He pointed out his favourite dish (baked beans). And he expressed an interest in visiting the North. I encouraged that, but warned him off for a couple years due to the extraordinary number of wildfires we're experiencing this year.

    ... the whole wide world, Macy's!!!!!!! Ian had to but some new trousers as he left a pair of good ones somewhere in our travels!!!!!! I bought some stuff for me as well as a few items for my great nieces!!!!!!!! Last night we went to a show on the strip, it was a variety show with a bit of everything and was really good! This morning Tommy and Cally went off to an iPhone info thing so Ian and I had a lazy morning by the pool. Can't spend too much time there ...

    ... punctuated by apparently derelict shacks and caravans, although the presence of a shiny truck outside most of them suggested many were still in use. We pondered whether the inhabitants were even aware of the insane wealth and excess that define Las Vegas, a few miles away, since the life here must be so relentlessly hard, isolated and poor.
