... Todd at the Holiday Inn Express. I talked with Homer a couple of times as he gave me info on conditions farther up the road. I have ended my day in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. It is incredibly windy here and they are expecting storms tonight. We will see.

I am now on the home stretch of long, flat roads heading East.
I started the day by eating at Penny's Place, a silver diner with great breakfasts.
Then mile after mile of corn fields and into Missouri, and Iowa.
Lunch was at the Crossroads, a true western bar.
... moved back to her home town in Fairfield. Linda and I had a wonderful time with Sally as we talked about the tour and caught up on family and friends. Sally is one of the choir people you meet along the way as a church director who becomes a welcome part of your life no matter where you move to. Our stay with Sally was the only time we slept the night outside of our camper!!
We left early on the morning of Tuesday, the 26th and covered quite a few ...
... up, my dad and I got out and took some pictures of the Mississippi River. We also watched the barge pass through and make its way down the river to New Orleans.
After waiting a while, the section of bridge rotated back and we continued our way into Illinois.
... River AND Iowa (not that I was desperately wanting to go to Iowa. It's just, how many do you go to Iowa in your life?).
Anyway, we drove across the river into Burlington, Iowa, and drove a little ways south towards Fort Madison.
