Of course after each walk we stop for a cold beverage to talk and get to know one another a little better. Walking and talking, a great way to make friends!

I think we found a wonderful car. An XC60 2.4D. Large enough for comfortable road trips and airport pickups (room for luggage!) And of course good for any IKEA trips (hopefully not many more for us! LOL).

True to form the next morning we had a magnificent sunrise. We love waking to our seaside view.

In the next few days we will get settled, enjoy some walking and reconnecting with friends and neighbors. We're happy in ...

... cafe and ordered hot chocolate to warm up, followed by lunch.

The cafe was run by two girls, one from Norwich who had been in Spain nine years, met a spaniard and now had a four month son; the other was a Geordie who had been in Spain seven years - both were fluent in Spanish. The cafe was obviously frequented by the local English community. An hour later we pedalled easily back up and down the other side, taking an off ...

... House (she folded our pyjamas when we left for the day...did I mention that before??) but this apartment in Alicante fell in the memorable category for sure. It was 3 stories and had 4 bedrooms, 6 balconies and at least 8 TVs (you need one on each balcony...obviously). The weird thing was not so much the fanciness of the place so much as the fact it was one of the cheapest places we stayed in Spain. I don't know ...

    Five Star Weekend

    from

My partner and I arrived 17th March very early in the morning and were allowed access to our room immediately. Very friendly and helpful receptionists who recommended restaurants for lunch and dinner. Can't fault the hotel at all - very stylish. Lovely building and tastefully refurbished. Would definitely recommend it. The only down side was the weather, although it was warmer than London it rained for a couple of hours each day we were there and the sun only really shone when we were getting on the plane to come home! That's life!

    Best 5* ive stayed in

    from

If Carlsberg did hotels they would be like the Amerigo!

We (family with 3 children ..aged 10,13 17) found it extremely stylish, very convenient to shops, marina, restaurants etc

The staff were endlessly helpful and friendly. The free computer with broadband in reception was a great hit with the kids. The rooms are beautifully designed in a modern comfortable vaguely eastern style. They are spacious with fabulous bathrooms. The bedrooms work well with enough space for relaxing on the sofa watching TV or DVDs (available free in reception) and for the bed. The linen was gorgeous. In fact everything was great.

I would love to have a reason to go back to Alicante just to stay here!

    Excellent all round hotel

    from

Stayed at this stylish hotel for 3 nights Jan 06...two ladies doing lunch ! well eating, drinking and shopping actually..Hotel situated just two streets back from the Marina and seafront....Alicante has some wonderful restaurants and the hotel lounge was a haven to return to....staff very friendly and nothing ever too much trouble for them...kindly offered different wines for us to try of the locality..Breakfast a real treat...Open plan bathroom a novelty and anyone with back or any problems like that then you need to request a shower rather than the climb in bath thats on offer. Visited a wonderful restaurant called Monstrelle...a hidden gem, expensive but memorable.

Overall thoroughly enjoyed and would use this hotel again.

Great Hotel in the middle of Alicante's best

    from

Stayed in the Amerigo for 3 nights for a short break and would recommend the hotel to anyone. Room was stylish and relaxing, spa area was superb and the bar area a joy to sit in and relax. The shopping area and beach front restaurants and bars are a 2 minute walk away.

I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay and experience everything Alicante has to offer.

    A stylish gem

    from

We booked two nights here on the basis of recommendations on TripAdvisor and from friends. From the entrance onwards, this is a seriously stylish hotel. The staff are smart but not stuffy. The public areas are spotless and full of eye-catching furniture. The room was lovely and the Korres products a definite winner. The pool on the top floor is worth a visit although you may find it fuller than we did in November. The location is also great, right in the old town and close to some good tapas bars etc.

    Truely 5 Star

    from

Just returned from a 3 night break at this wonderfull hotel. It's about a 15 min taxi ride from the airport @ 14 Euros. Located in the old town area just one street back from the seafront road it's in a prime location for the marina, beach & surrounding restaurants. Set on 4 floors with about 80 rooms the place has been decorated to a terrific standard in a classy minimalist sort of way. My wife & I stayed on a bed & breakfast basis & our room was wonderfull although the open plan bathroom was slighty different.Free minibar & a great selection of complimentary soaps' lotions & the like. Flat screen telly, electric sun blinds & a fantastic power shower. The breakfast was a terrific buffet of savaoury & sweet items plus the addition of a small cooked choice all served with fresh fruit juices....the best I've ever had!

    Amazing Alicante

    from

Friends and I recently stayed at Amerigo in Alicante and fell in love with the place.

Lovely Hotel in the Center of it All

    from

My fiance and I just got back from a vacation in Alicante, Spain. We were there for 4 nights. Amerigo is a gorgeous, modern hotel. I loved how it was decorated--it's the kind of place you wish your home was modeled after as far as the decor. The room isn't huge, but it's fine for 2 people. Everything was so up-to-date, for example we had a flat screen TV and a very nice, small cordless phone.

Esoteric breakfast, nice staff, if the price is reasonable, go for it

    from

The Amerigo is in a building that's still being renovated (so beware, there is no pool YET). When I stayed there I believe I was one of few guests in a pretty large hotel. The breakfast is amazing - like a tasting meal, and not unreasonably priced. You can't have your laptop plugged into electricity and into the ADSL at the same time so bring an extremely long cord. The price had dropped which is why I chose the hotel. It had previously been going for well over $200 which would be an insane price to pay in Alicante...but if it's lower, it's worth it. Much nicer than the Melia and the Portamaris.

    Very stylish

    from

Arrived the same day as the Barcelona football team, 2 weeks after the hotel had opened.

Amazingly stylish, great roof top pool with beautiful and polite staff.

Seems slightly at odds with the more tourist parts of Alicante, but is complimented by a couple of good and stylish restaurants in the old town.
