Home Sweet Home!!!
Whew----we made it!! After all the crazy weather in Chicago, we only ended up being about a half hour late to Appleton.
It was good to see Mom's face at the airport, and even nicer that this was the last time we had to lug our suitcases around.
Thanks to Mom for cat-sitting for Derby---we wouldn't have been able to take this trip without her :)

So, here we are, waiting to take off on our big adventure. Flying out of Appleton is so nice, security is a breeze!
Our flight to Chicago is running a little late (surprise, surprise), but we have 3 hours to make our next connection, so we should be ok.
Let the adventure begin!!

Sturgeon Bay via Menominee to Mackinaw, MI
Day 9 - departed for the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan, and the Mackinaw Straights toll bridge (5 mi long). Very pretty, somewhat remote, drive on Hwy 2 across the north end of Lake Michigan - lot of wild life visible - mostly deer - and the road followed very closely to the edge of the lake all the way to Mackinaw.

Green Bay to Sturgeon Bay, WI - at Georgia's house
We were able to get another Evergreen Club Member's house in Sturgeon Bay, WI (more fondly known as Door County Peninsula) where we stayed for 2 nights. Our host, Georgia, was gone to Madison for 4 days, but welcomed us to stay in her family summer home out at Sand Bay, even in her absence. Our week in Green Bay!!
... were coming." (camfel always calls ..we know this because we have the paper with the schools info confirming the call ahead.) Since they weren't prepared for us the orchestra was practicing on the stage we were to be setting up on. Finally we got our equipment unloaded and set up with a few helpers..sort of helpers.. We ended having to do an extra show there but it was unable to be finished because the kids would be late to catch their buses..after a long day/busy week ...
