Soakin' in the heat

... low lying clouds. Brrrr. But when you dunked back down it was heaven. From here we hightailed it to Colorado Springs to meet up with Frank's Mom & her man Martin. We all had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse and watched the Dodgers win. Nice. Did we mention the $5.00 fishbowl margarita's? Really nice.

A Different Point of View

... you a split second to realize that I'm only joking :) Of course I loved it! I love to talk! The second workshop was form of "speed dating" in which we were interviewed by different cast members. The final workshop - which I thought was extremely prevalent - was a media workshop. We were brought into a media setting and our marketing manager, Matt, and sound technician, Manuel, posed as reporters. They asked us questions that we may get asked throughout the semester about the "religion ...

Our 2nd day in Colorado

... pool and had fun swimming. Late in the day Gabi helped Hannah tend to the goats and Bri read. Tonight we went to a rodeo and had a tailgate party there on a big flat bed trailer with a bunch of Carl & Wendy's friends. Bri & Gabi got into it eventually and were whooping it up and cheering on the riders.

If all goes as planned, we'll get going by 9 and I've got a 12 hour drive as we head towards Seattle.

Drive through Independence Pass to Carbondale CO

... 82 towards the pass, the girls were a bit anxious at the idea of climbing to 12,000 feet. Their nerves grew as we started the steep ascent through hairpin turns and winding narrow roads. I convinced them to chill and that we would make it alive, and by the time we hit the top and could get out and walk around, they were enjoying themselves. At the top the air was noticeably thinner, and the ...

Arches and Canyons

Today was a stunning day of geologic wonders at Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park near Moab Utah. These are both within 50 miles of each other but offer vastly different versions of water erosion. Arches is full of vertical slats of rocks that erode away in the middle to form a natural stone arch. To me the most impressive was the double arch (see photo) followed by the Landscape arch (see next photo). Standing under double arch, the size ...

Leaving home

... was an interesting experience. It was full and my seat mate kept making AH-Hum noises every few minutes!! Luckily I am blessed with a powerful need to sleep on airplanes!! Our flight from ORD to LHR was delayed about 45 minutes due to inboud aircraft. The flight was full, but I had a great seat thanks to Gail (bulkhead right behind business). My seat mate this time was travelling with his wife and son but they started to ...

A Life on the Road

... and he told me he tore his hamstring when I asked him if he was going jogging. The Peninsula was very nice, great breakfast. The room was nice too.
We had some tiki drinks and Trader Vic's but were let down that it had been moved inside, next to the pool. It felt like we were at a MTV Spring Break party. Lame. Somewhere in there I was in Vegas. I think a week before. There was another party ...

Cowboy town

Took the roadtrip back out to Glenwood springs. Hit up Glenwood Springs after hiking Hanging Lake.

Great vertical hike. Lake actually hangs off the side of a mountain, small trickle of waterfall.

Humbling to have 6 year olds point out your fear of heights as you are scaling rock trails.

Amazing. But reaffirmed my everworsening fear of heights. Andy had a good time watching me crawl down rocks on my ass. Pathetic!

We have a complete wilderness experience

... or plenty of poor restaurants. I guess once one restaurant provide great food the rest have to come up to scratch or fail. Trouble is too many towns seem to accept poor restaurants. MJ spent the evening doing this blog - which took about 3 hours as Microsoft Word decided to crash just as the four days had been written up. Go figure. Colorado is beautiful - we recommend it as the best state to visit for friendly towns and green dramatic mountain scenery.

Snowboarding at Beaver Creek

... and I $235 US. All the boys were going over jumps in the terrain park. Adam mastered the last jump and Nathan the C Rail. I even went over the straight rail jumps. Much better going down the black this time but still very slow. Feel like I have improved on the blue. The view was amazing and the sky so blue. Came back to our apartment ...
