Left Cousin Larry's house about 8 am and crossed the Wisconsin border in under 30 minutes on the back roads. 1st stop was Twin Lakes on the Wisconsin border. One of my favorite John Prine songs "Lake Marie" is based on these lakes (although Lake Marie is really called Lake Mary). Here I am "standing by peaceful waters".

We caught the El to find the greyhound station (without luggage) as we would need it tonight (blue line, alight at Clinton station btw) . Took some sunny pictures to replace the ...

Ready to call it a day.

The kids had to learn the proper train signal that were necessary when approaching a road crossing, when stopping, when starting etc.. Each operation required a different set of whistles and bell signals and the kids had to get them right.
When we arrived back at the beginning, Justin had to sound the proper whistles, dismount ...

... we stopped when we did. Needed a bit of leveling and
got some help from some fellow SAPrs. Complete connections and we enjoyed a
nice chicken meal cooked on our grill.
The plan is early rise tomorrow, continue on I-90 and our
first side trip to Mt Rushmore. Then it is on to Wyoming our target is Buffalo.
Total miles first day out is 350.
