... to guide them into the west channel. The lighthouse opened in 1863 and housed up to three families. There was one piece of furniture inside that was an original piece, one that was there when the lighthouse opened. It was a clock - a necessity for flashing the light at the exact time it was supposed to in order to identify the island. I also learned that light houses may look similar to others nearby, but one may have stripes or some other design which is used ...

... short but pretty. The water at the end was absolutely amazing. The way the shades of the water blend from clear to blue was absolutely incredible. It's nothing like the lovely brown water back in PA. We admired its beauty and then went back to the car. We drove all the way around the upper part of the island until we made it back to Big Bay State Park. We went to the overlook and then to the beach. I dug my toes in the sand and let the waves wash over my feet. I found a couple of ...

We caught the 8 o'clock ferry over to Madeline Island and drove to Big Bay State Park when we got there. We checked in and then it was time to set up the tent. It worked out really well :) By the time we were done, ...

... just in our bike cloths. The sun started coming out as we made our way across to the island. What a great ride we had on the island. We started out across the island for the State Park in the middle of the Madeline Island. Seven miles later, we were there. A very green and tree lined road with Lupine like you've never seen. I think we’ve seen at least four colors of it so far. The flowers had to be at ...

My departure day began as they all should: a session at the driving range with my friend Normita. She's new to the sport, I'm old; it's fun to see someone learn the intricacies of golf and thrill when a perfectly struck ball soars - further and further. Even those practice swings were done with a smile.

I'm really going to miss golf.
