On our way to Lake Charles there are many miles of bridges over the bayou. Twelve miles before we reached the park we heard a loud "pop" and sure enough we had blown a tire. Today was 'Day 1' of our 4 day adventure home. We left our hotel in West Monroe at 9:15 a.m. We drove almost 4 hours to Lake Charles Airport to return our rental car. Took a cab to the Lake Charles Train Station. We Had lunch on board and made about a 25 minute stop in Beaumont, TX. Knowing that ice/snow/sleet/rain was coming again, I wanted to get through Baton Rouge and past the notorious Atchafalaya 12-13 mile elevated bridge and avoid the parade of semis.
