We called Air New Zealand and pre paid for 3 ...

... to get a complete blackout, and my card is only about complete. Gotta work harder. I spent a good 30 minutes calling Portland hotels to try to find 1) availability in a downtown location, 2) a nice place to spoil ourselves a bit after camping, and 3) something unique that would be memorable. We lucked into a Kimpton Hotel – the Monaco, an elegant but family-friendly hotel with a free 5 – 6 wine hour. Just the thing.
