    Heading back to Denver

We have now left the magnificent scenery of the mountains, and are now driving across the prairie with not much to see. We are going to spend the night in Rawlins. It here we meet a few interesting characters and spend some time conversing with them. Lots of cute little cotton bunnies wandering around the camp ground. Looks like we have a nice night here in Rawlins, as it can be one very windy place.

... Matt only realised after 31 miles. Hence, this cockup turned the day into an incredibly long and tough outing. We had left early to try and avoid the afternoon heat, but with the extra mileage, we did not arrive at camp until 18:00hrs. Frighteningly, we did not cross a single water source in 75 miles of riding (fortunately Nadine had packed extra water). The A&M Reservoir was the most beautiful piece of water we have ever seen. We have moaned a lot about headwinds in Wyoming: ...

... We stayed at the Western Hills campground. Set up camp, Cameron realized he didn't have his knife. His favorite, kept it in his pocket all vacation. He bought it in Deadwood. I can tell it bothers him. They went back to the park To see if by chance it was there, no luck. They have mini golf here, so we used our free round and took all the kids, that was very "entertaining" lol. We had a good ...

... a fabulous gift shop. Then onward to Rawlins to stay at the RV World Campground for the night. It was an adequate campground with not too many amenities - no pool nor hot tub. But the place was booked solid. It must be a well known spot to take a break for the night. It was very windy here and according to the office staff, not unusual. Cost: $27.54 with discount for the night. I took a walk into town and came ...

... and the bun was nearly, if not, three inches high. Chris and I shared and couldn't get through it and all for the princely sum of $2.99.Anyway our drive through the prairies was so pretty even though we've hit drizzle for most of the day. At one stage the land stretched for as far as the eye could see and there wasn't a tree in sight. Then the landscape changed and we found ourselves driving between red ...
