Yesterday, I mentioned how comfortable I was being in a familiar place. So comfortable in fact, that I woke up knowing a sad fact: I had to move on. It's hard to leave Bend, but at least I can take solace knowing I will be back soon! As I was getting ready this morning, thinking about where to go next, I decided to take a chance. ... and with such flat stretches it was easy to be blinded by oncoming traffic. We eventually made it safely to Fallon and checked into the motel, which, predictably, had a casino in the lobby. We each took a long, hot shower, and it was heavenly to scrub off the dirt we had accumulated traveling through seven different states. ... I wanted to do a "Whoop" when I was through but I thought people would think that strange so I held back, did a quiet "Whoop" and had a coffee drink :).
When I got to Reno i stopped to fuel up. The station had these tree hugger type of nozzles that have something to trap the fumes and they are a pain. Well i could not get one to work, so after i got my 37 cents worth of fuel I went to a different pump and had the same problem but I got $2.52 ...

... quite a bit yesterday. This is definitely cowboy country … mountain valleys and snow drift fences everywhere deer and antelope play (even saw herds on golf course greens, grazing amongst Canada Geese). As we passed the Continental Divide (7K elevation), Kirk commented if I lived in the early settler days, I’d be like Calamity Jane. LOL.


His understanding of the topography, wilderness and wildlife made this part of the trip much ...

... we are in reno, as we visited Virgina city...a city that has not changed since the 1800s.....very cool. they still have wooden side walks and proper saloon bars, which we sat in and met proper cowboys dancing to the live band. A cowboy walked past alex with his spurs and said "how'day"......alex was so chuffed lol. was well worth a visit.
2nite in Reno, we went down for a drink so we got twenty dollars out....played on machine and won 5 ...
