... Oregon! From Oregon, and through California, I finally made my way into Nevada. The road actually took me through Reno, so I stopped for some Vietnamese pho along the way. Reno is a pretty interesting place; the hotels look like Vegas, but they're spread out. I was in and out, and after a nice dinner I found myself in Fernley, Nevada. It was a seven-and-a-half hour drive here, and another six tomorrow. I'm bunked at a Comfort Suites, and on the way to Vegas ...
- I woke up at 8am
- i went to eat at a diner for breakfast
- Went to the gas station and got gas
- Left at around 11am
- i started driving and got there at around 2pm
- For the rest of the time in Fernley i went to a couple stores to shop
- After went to taco bell-5$
- Then went to sleep in my car at around 10pm
... and with such flat stretches it was easy to be blinded by oncoming traffic. We eventually made it safely to Fallon and checked into the motel, which, predictably, had a casino in the lobby. We each took a long, hot shower, and it was heavenly to scrub off the dirt we had accumulated traveling through seven different states. We also greatly enjoyed the luxuries of television and a real bed, and after almost a week of sleeping outside even a budget motel felt like a ...
... So I got on the bike and went down the road to a 7-Eleven which had normal nozzles and got my fuel. Then I started for the town of Fernley with plans to be maybe 100 miles beyond for tonight. Well about 5 miles out of Reno the traffic (2 lane freeway, I-80) was stopped .It was creepy crawly traffic for 25 miles which took well over 3 hours to get to Fernley. In this part of the country there are not really any other roads for an alternate route ...
