... back into the soil, returning it to the ocean.
The white mangrove live on high ground and to be honest I haven't looked them up!! Thought this was all very interesting......and no Rachelle , Vern hasn't written in the blog yet , but it's coming.!! Stay tuned...
We hiked the nature trail on the island and then settled ourselves on to the beach. Was so looking forward to seeing some wildlife, but no, no armadillos,gopher ...

Not a lot to report today as once again we chose to relax ahead of the next few days which are likely to be a bit "full on".

After a leisurely breakfast we took a short drive down the coast to see the Trade Winds Resort where we stayed in 1992 our first visit to Florida. Memory can play tricks, but it is much bigger than when we stayed there and the area around it seems more built up. That's progress I suppose. ...

... Friday had not yet arrived. Sadly.

However, in-between turning the car into a fully functioning office I managed to catch some wonderful and amusing juxtapositions in the countryside of Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Frequently there were beautiful Victorian house with white picket fences, pecan farms, hundreds of churches and huge religious billboards. Only Forest Gump was missing from the scene. But the signs also alarmingly promoted 'services' ...
