      ... sand. Ok, I know that is difficult to imagine. Guess you have to see it to understand it. So on the bright side, it was beautiful.

      The Bad: We came down through the mountains following Brenda and Stan. Nick was doing a great job not riding the brakes. And there was no concern about taking the runaway ramp....oh that's right, there weren't any! A few miles on to the flat land, now in California, Nick kinda mutters under his breath "there's water coming out". ...

      ... We pulled all of our junk out of the trunk and realized that there were no tools to help change the spare! Someone had removed the jack and wrench and not put them back. Luckily, this nice guy hauling a trailer of small farm equipment was nice enough to check up on us. He had a jack and a wrench that would fit! What a relief! After he helped us, we offered to buy him lunch, but he said he had already eaten and went on his way. Now, if that's not supernatural, I don't know what is!

      Here is a little background on our backpacking experience as I have some relatives who ask for me to write about earlier experiences.

      Dale and I first backpacked before we were married. We hiked into the Sierra's, a 10 hour hike, over a pass into what is called Evolution Valley.
