I wonder if that is a carryover from the 'dustbowl' days in the 1930s when farmers were learning how to control erosion, or if it is a newer practice. I wasn't too happy about having to fly into Denver(which was snowing) and then drive 3 hours and 40 minutes but I made it to North Platte. North Platte is your typical small hard working American town. Interesting facts about North Platte is that Buffalo Bill had a ranch here and Union Pacific has a bailey yard here that happens to be the largest in the world.
