... Turns out the flaps were not working and we were going to make a hard landing. Kristie and I clasp hands and I tell her we are going to be ok meanwhile I'm pretty scared. Not gonna lie. Today was going to be a day in which we saw a lot of stuff. I got up at 6.45am, showered, dressed and went to breakfast. Some people went to the ihop across the road, but i stuck to the hotel breakfast because it was easier and quicker. After eating i went back to the room, got ready for the day, packed my bags and then took my bags to the coach.

Had the KOA breakfast and chatted with the two ladies who were serving it. They’re clearly both older than I am and they and their husbands are itinerant workers for KOA for a free place to stay and a salary. They’re employed for 6 months for 2 to 4 days a week which gives them time to explore on days off. One’s been on the road for five years and the other leaves her home in California during the hot summer months to do this. ...

An early breakfast and we get fueled up from our Super 8 hotel and make our way up to Mount Rushmore to see the four presidents faces carved out of the rock - Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodor Roosevelt. An awesome sight - we did the touristy thing and paid our 11 dollars to get up close and personal with them.
From there we go onto the Crazy Horse monument which is a rock carving in the making of ...

... We crossed the Great Sioux River from Iowa into South Dakota. Small towns drifted in and out of our windows: Davis, Turkey Ridge, Menno, Olivet, Tripp. Once past Tripp, we turned south to continue on Rte. 18. We passed through the Yankton Indian Reservation.
