Golf Digest 4,5 stars course
A Day of Falls
... of track. It was nice to see that the trains were constantly running, on so many layouts you only see one or two trains the whole time. All the layouts are built to incorporate three gauges: HO, S and O gauge.
Heading back to the campground we had to take a detour to get fuel. We are finding it very difficult to get diesel at the moment, the nearest gas station to our campground is 30 miles away. Good job we don't have a long trip ...
Moonshine to Millionaires - NASCAR
While we were at the service center in Albany our tech happened to ask Ken if he was a fan of NASCAR..Seems there is an auto museum in Saratoga Springs that is currently hosting an exhibit titled "Moonshine to Millionaires, NASCAR History, Heroes and Technology. So, of course, we had to put it on our itinerary. Fortunately it fit ...
U.S. Grants Cottage
It happens sometimes in our travels that we stumble upon a place that surprises us. Grants Cottage is a good example. It was to this cottage, owned by a family friend, that General U.S. Grant, our 18Th President came to work on his memoirs. He was suffering from terminal throat cancer and had recently been left destitute by a failed investment. When he received an offer of $25,000 for his memoirs - from publisher Mark Twain - he ...

We liked the town of Saratoga Springs a lot and were disappointed that we were not able to walk around in the rain too much. We drove on the short distance to Lake George - a summer vacation area with the usual tourist attractions. Very few places were open yet. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Americas Best Value Inn Lake George
Don't Even Think About Staying Here
I've never been to Lake George before, so I was checking out hotels online. This one appealed to me because it had the indoor pool and it appeared to be close to all. The photos of the beach looked really nice. It wasn't until I called to ask about bringing my canoe that I was told that they are not on the beach at all!! I asked about the picture on the website listed under "OUR PHOTO ALBUM" (which contains 9 picutes of the hotel and this one beach picture) and he said "We're near the beach", that photo is of another hotel's beach!!!!!!!!!!!. When I tried to cancel my reservation he went ballistic, said he was going to chrage $100! I accused him of misrepresenting his hotel and he hung up on me!! Every time I called back he yelled at me, called me names and hung up on me. He refused to let me speak to anyone else and would not even attempt to have a reasonable conversation with me. I ended up having to cancel my credit card to avoid getting charged. The rudest person I have ever spoked to. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I've made a formal complaint with the BBB and the local Chamber of Commerce.
Adequate motel
We have tried, over the last ten years, to go at least once a year to lake george and have found most motels to be a fairly clean and well serviced, the only exception to this rule was Kathy's motel & cabins ( What a dump!). Mohawk was one of the cleaner ones and the price was fair. The pool and recreation area is great for kids and the location is walking distance to the village centre, something my wife really liked. The only thing keeping me from giving the Mohawk a better rating is the late opening of the office in the morning: check-out time is 10:00 a.m. but there was no one there untill eleven. Then again, maybe it's due to our stay being in the off-season. we would definitely consider staying there again.
Extremely Clean and Constant Upgrades
We have stayed at the Mohawk Motel (Choice Inn) for the past 9, or 10 Americades (early June) and always find it top notch. The owners take great pride in the property and it shows. Our room is always spotless and the owners have upgraded the motel every year. The indoor pool and hotub are great. It's a nice place to stay during Americade, because the owners do not tolerate rude behavior, or guest's packing their rooms with unregistered friends.
A lot of Americaders stay here year after year and it's nice to see old friends when we arrive. I would recommend the Mohawk/Choice when visiting Lake George.
A very nice place despite other reviews!
My wife and two kids stayed at this motel during the
4th of July weekend. What we found was a very clean
hotel. The pool was very clean as was the jacuzzi.
The beds were comfortable and the maids did an
excellent job cleaning the rooms daily. It seems that
some people didn't like the motel but I don't know why.
For families it was super clean. I would recommend the
extra $10 for the fridge especially when it is hot out.
The owners do a real nice job of keeping the place
clean and they should be commended for that.
I would recommend staying on the second floor as some
of the patrons are not so curteous and bounce around
which you can hear in the floor below.
Given the choice I would stay here again without a doubt!
Terrible place to stay
Rude and inconsiderate service, terrible disgusting place to stay. Weird odor, what I think were cockroaches. Never again would I stay there or ever recommend it to anyone. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to stay there. Terrible, terrible, terriblr
DO NOT STAY AT THE CHOICE INN !!!!
Had to ask for heat to be turned on (via the office). Room service knocking on door before 10 am and was told would be out by 11 am. Woman at front desk says check out was between 10 and 11. Another knock and then a rude phone call by the manager, we were pushed out of our room so they would not have to pay the cleaning lady to wait a few minutes. Rude Rude Rude, What a A@@#!#$, Be aware, I never write reviews but these people are poor to say the least....... Try the Alpine Lodge, they are awesome !!!
Don't Stay Here
This was not a very friendly place to stay. Managment seem to have an attitude about everything. we had no hot water in the morning and had to wait till 10:00 am befor we could get any help. I would not recommend this hotel to stay in.
Very nice
We stayed here when we were "scouting" for a hotel to reserve for Americade 2004.The rooms were in excellant condition, and very clean. The maid service was super. The management was friendly.Unfortunately they are already full for that week.
Do not stay in this place!!!!
From the minute we got to The Choice Inn I found the owner/opperator to be very difficult. Went there for a weekend getaway with several other friends after years of hearing how nice Lake George was. This was not what I expected. Upon check-in, he immediately started asking about our intensions while at Lake George. He then isisted that no noise would be tolerated. We understood. He kept insisting to the point where it was almost harrassment. This harrassment continued to the point where we decided not to stay the second night that we had already booked. It was worth it to pay for another night and go somewhere else that treated thier customers properly. This hotel owner/ opperator certainly harms the reputation that Lake George has as a friendly, family type place.
Being New York City Police officers and Fireman ourselves, we had a lenghthy conversation with a few local police officers and were told that the owner/opperator of the Chioce Inn in Lake George was a chronic problem in Lake George and he harrasses everyone much in the same mannor he did to us. Do Not stay here, there are plenty of friendly places past this unfriendly place.
Worst lake george stay ever
We stayed at the Choice Inn and Suites in August 2003. This was our ninth trip to Lake George and fisrt stay at this hotel. I must say the room had a nice decor and was clean upon arrival. In terms of housekeeping, they do not put trash bags in the barrels. If you need to throw something out you must put it into the empty plastic barrel which to us was disgusting. The owners were the rudest we have ever encountered. When we had a problem with the telephone in our room(which did not work at all), we were treated rudely. While we were out for the day someone came into our room to check on the telephone. The problem with the phone was not fixed and this person rudely turned down the air-conditioner(which was only on medium). This is unbelievable that we do not have the right to have a comfortable temperature in the room that we are paying for.Your room was not cleaned until 3 or 4 pm on most days so don't come back from enjoying Lake George to try and change. One day our room was forgotten and never cleaned! When checking out the owners barely grunted to us and would not even ask how our stay was. Our advise is to try another hotel. We loved Lake haven and the Lynaire. Steer clear of this one!
