Andrew, Sara and Emerson fly today to Australia for 3 weeks. We wish them safe travelling.

Set off west, across Louisiana into Texas. Miles of motorway elevated above swamps, with resident alligators. Crossed Henderson Swamp on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, second longest in U.S. at 18.2 miles long. Passed Breaux Bridge, crawfish capital of the world, and Lafayette, bisque capital!

Saw lots of oil refineries at Beaumont, ...

... in Highlands, TX at San Jacinto Riverside RV Resort. It is a very nice place and Good Sam so that means it's a little more expensive than the last two nights, but hey, you have to stay somewhere! The pads and drives are concrete and it's right on the water (we're not, but it's just a short walk). It is a big park with over 200 sites, some with hot tubs, and cottages which can also be rented.
