Before leaving Tampa, we added further to the US's slow GDP by purchasing a new cargo rack that plugs into the trailer hitch socket. Late in the plan prior to departing from home we decided to bring Mathew’s jogger and it hung from the minivans transom which made opening
the back hatch a two-man operation. So the day started with Paula and I purchasing a rack with "some assembly required". The guys in the Pep Boys garage with several bays of lifts ...

We had made plans to meet up with birding legend Iain Campbell from Tropical Birding Tours (he does birding tours around the world, Laurie knew him from a tip he gave him while in Darwin to find a Little Kingfisher nest). He showed us around the best spots to go birding, we saw lots including the famous warblers that people flock here to ...

... the winter but when you get what you went out for it counts as a good day. Though the day was cloudy and dark came early, I did see a Rial! I believe it to be a Virginia Rail, based on size comparison with the many coots and moorhens. (FYI- Yes, it's a big deal!) The one photo has been enhanced to better show the bird.
At the main refuse a volunteer told of Tundra Swans in Shoveler Pond. We saw swans and Northern ...
