... huge system ahead I knew I was going to drive through so I stopped. I shot a short video about the water that pools inside my jacket at the elbows.
The longer I hung around that gas station the longer I wanted to hang around. I ended up waiting out the storm and shot quite a bit of video. I had a very good internet connection this morning so I uploaded a longish video about my time spent there.

Set off west, across Louisiana into Texas. Miles of motorway elevated above swamps, with resident alligators. Crossed Henderson Swamp on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, second longest in U.S. at 18.2 miles long. Passed Breaux Bridge, crawfish capital of the world, and Lafayette, bisque capital!

Charlie, aka "Sir Charles Feline", knows we are leaving and is in a snit. He refuses to look at us as he settles into his favorite chair. We try to appease him with extra treats and cherry tomatoes as we depart feeling a little guilty. Our ship awaits approximately three and a half hours from our home, and our 9:30 a.m. departure leaves us ample time to arrive by our scheduled 2:00 p.m. boarding.
