    Friends who become like family are such a tremendous gift. Spending the last 24 hours with Shaw, Kit, Emi and Amaya has been fantastic. From great food, great conversations, laughter, hospitality, water balloons, a sandbox, pets to play with, the list goes on. It was pretty perfect.     ... picnic areas and a decent uphill hiking trail to a sculpture installation called Guardian of the Prairie. In addition, wildflowers are blooming profusely this summer and this trail offered great photo ops. Picnic tables are plentiful but others, like where we stopped for a lunch of our Mexican leftovers, are quite exposed to the sun, so aren't ideal.
