... After leaving Jacksboro, we were going to drive over to Granbury, but it was 75 miles and we wouldn't have been there before 3:30 and I don't know about Bob, but I was tired and had a headache. So I decided that we should just stop at the Walmart in Mineral Wells (since we needed a few things) and then return "home" for the rest of the day. I thought I knew where the Mineral Wells Walmart was, but when I did a Google ...

The couple of Margharitas were also a nice addition to the afternoon's fun.

Stayed over night at Dave's place.

          Day 1 - and 547 miles

A travel blog entry by expeditioners on May 22, 2014

The first day and 500 miles behind us. The objective was to get past Dallas and I'm glad I did. We ended up at a roadside campground that I was able to pull right in and leave the car hitched. Just plugged in, turned on the A/C and hit the bed.
The travel has been good so far. Texas roads are a bit worse than Louisiana but traveling through Dallas is not for a novice especially in motorhome.

Looking forward to New Mexico. The planned stop is a town called Santa Rosa.

It is Sunday, March 2, 2014. We spent the night with my mother then loaded to start our first adventure to explore the west side of the United States. As we arrived in the Dallas area we were greeted with an ice storm!! This was a challenge to drive through to arrive at Runaway Bay, Texas. Yes, it slowed us down but it wasn't severe enough that we had to stop as Galen persevered through all the white storm ...

Really great tour. Lots of information presented in a fun, conversational way. Our guide told it like it was without trying to pretty it up or make it politically correct.

On the way we passed through Onley. This is the home of the one armed dove hunt. We are not sure if they hunt one-armed doves or the hunt doves one ...
