        Very nice room...virtually no services

No coffee for the coffee maker in the room; no Internet access. Clean, though, and a big room with comfortable bed.

So ends our -TEN DAYS OF THUNDER with a few extra days thrown in the mix. Great time, a once in a lifetime for us! Loved sharing it with Kitty and Bobby-hard for us to hang with ...

We had pit passes for today's race. Eddie - not interested. He stayed at the coach and then watched the Xfinity race on the tv. Kitty, Bobby and I headed for the pits about 2 o'clock. Pits were open during the race. We got down there through the tunnel before the green flag. We were right there with the tires, and gas cans, and the BIG GAS CAN MEN with ...

Midday, our friend Gary (works at Hendrick's) called and said come over for a tour. Thanks to him we got the " up close and personal " tour of the race shops for the 24, 5, 88, 48. Interesting seeing behinds the scenes work that goes into producing championship cars. Everyone there was friendly. We spent about 90 min. there. Back to camp and Kitty and Bobby took off ...

... The last time I did this was at 4am in the middle of Kansas with Rittenhouse and Nate. Jenkins. Enough of the highway happenings.

Post-proboscis and morning stretch, I put 4 quarters of air in my tires and drove from Marion to the base of Mount Mitchell Monday morning. I stared and tall Mr. Mitchell stared back. The continental divide provides a rich breeding ground for flash fog and funny little rainstorms. It is funny how a cloud sits to take a rest. I stopped at the ...

Early Fall Views at Morrow Mountain

Leaving White Pines, we headed into Albemarle, NC and had lunch before starting our next hike at Morrow Mountain.
We parked at the Horse Trailer parking lot and hiked the Sugarloaf
Mountain Trail in the counterclockwise direction until intersecting the
Morrow Mountain Trail. We followed this surprisingly strenuous trail up
to the summit of Morrow Mountain. A short section of this trail has ...
