    On Saturday we drove south again towards our next stop on Highway 1 at Ventura Beach. Having just eaten the complimentary cereal and toast in the hotel we were saddened to find the coolest roadside diner by the side of the road on our way to Ventura. It was a converted train carriage and was 1950s style with a juke box and red and white vinyl booths. We were not at all hungry but managed to drink 5 or 6 cups of refillable coffee to take in the atmosphere. ...

    Jackie very kindly gave Mike and I the use if her car again, so we set off for the coast.. The aim was to cut across Mountain View and head up the 280 until we reached Upper Crystal Spring Reservoir. Then across to Half Moon Bay on the 92.
