San Francisco turned on another brilliant sunny day for our last morning in the city. But all the upcoming weather info we can see suggests now is the time to get out of the Bay area. Things are about to become pretty nasty. Still, no chance for and no need for a rushed start to the day. First up had to be the necessary drive down Lombard Street, just to keep the small native from becoming restless. And he did enjoy it. He seems to be the only one disappointed we don't live in the middle of t...

Finally left the noisy dorm room yay. Saw some massive waves along the coast towards Monterey. Stopped off in Santa Cruz, not much going on in Fall! Apparently it's wooden rollercoaster is a national monument! Got to Monterey and found a visitor centre for a map. Hotel man upgraded us to a deluxe king, had a microwave and a fridge! Watched lots of TV ...
Monterey, California, United States rich_charlotte04/11/2009 - Woke up in the morning, had our usual breakfast (cereal in our room out of paper bowls!), and checked out of the hotel. We picked up the car from the backstreet car park (it was still there, with all its wheels on, thank god) and headed south on Highway 1. We had initially planned to travel seventy miles or so and stay in Santa Cruz, but the reviews on tripadvisor.com said it was past its best and a ...
Capitola, California, United States jimandlaura... at the top of the hill where we ACTUALLY parked Lola. I yell out to them all "IS IT THERE?" and of course Sumner and his smartass reply shouts, "NO!!" (even though it was)

Meanwhile, Christa lets the boys mad dash from the restaurant, and she jumps in a police car parked out front. She directs the cop to where Lola is and explains that it's being jacked at that moment. Calling me from the backseat she's trying to figure out what happened as I weakly reply "It might not be Lola ...

Santa Cruz, California, United States scher-air... over and over and over how much she loves California foliage and flowers. She also gushed over all of the libraries and low-key music venues and wineries and wine bars and picnics that we passed. Christen wants to return to Big Sur. It looks fantastic. She wishes that we had camped there.
- Drove through Monterey. Christen had been there twice before, but Bri had never been. We were originally going to stop at the aquarium, but decided that the ...
Santa Cruz, California, United States cgibbons18... a really long time. So we just got back from the chocolate place. Apparently it's pretty new, but I give it a few months to catch on. It's a gourmet chocolate restauraunt. What's not to like? I got a white chocolate hot chocolate. It comes in a small glass which is really misleading. It's so rich that you can't even drink half of it! I can just see myself in a month from now melting a white chocolate Hershey's bar in a glass and adding milk to try to recreate the ...
Santa Cruz, California, United States bashleyfDay 37 I'm still not sure why Lisa opted to sleep on the couch while I slept in her room. She's too nice. We woke up and got some food and then Lisa asked me if I wanted to chant for an hour. My connection to Lisa Noon is actually kind of interesting. Interesting because I hadn't known her all that well but it was really cool of her to be excited about my trip and want to hang out. She was also at the Student Division Conference last year that I went to and we crossed paths. Just didn ...
Santa Cruz, California, United States vcfighters... ride called 'the mummy' and 'jurassic park' which had a huge vertical waterslide at the end where we got soaking wet. Yesterday we went into Hollywood and walked the walk of fame. We decided to take a bus tour to the hollywood sign which was good and we took some pics. We then had another wander down hollywood boulevard where we were given tickets to be in the T.V audience at a live taping of an american show called ...
L.A, United States kludlamThis has got to be the longest day I've ever lived! It started off with me leaving Sydney on Saturday, 2nd July 2005 at 1.45pm, flying 13 hours halfway across the world and arriving in San Francisco on the same day at 10am. It's like "Groundhog Day", just without the same events repeating all over again! Anyway, Yee Ling, Steve, Michelle and Jen arrived with perfect timing at the airport... just in time to keep me company in the queue to ...
