... bay from the car park and the setting was lovely. We had the Half Moon Bay Marina on one side and pure white sand on the other. The surf spot was about 100m off shore and in a very rocky area. I know nothing about surfing so it was all lost on me and there was no one out there any way. The waves were apparently not good enough.

We had no agenda of where we were going to end up as nothing had been booked from then on, but Santa Cruz was the next big town coming up so we continued ...

... with many seafood restaurants, beach shops, galleries with nautical themes and scenes. It is not overly developed and seems to retain its village atmosphere. There is a large colony of sea otters in the channel and, there they were, just floating on their backs, calm as could be. There were also the ubiquitous squirrels jumping around on the rocky foreshore. In town, we had a look at the local aquarium. $2 entry fee per person may give you an idea of ...

We said our goodbyes to Mary and George and got on the mini van where there was another Aussie couple on board as well as a couple from Chicago. Next stop we picked up a French lady and her son and after that, another couple from the UK - all up 10 in the mini van.
