... he can't lift and carry as much. The rental car bus was a highlight, as always. Got a minivan and headed toward Waco. As we waited for the rental car check-in process, a man in line commented how well-behaved the girls were. Once settled in the minivan, we set the navigator to Waco and started driving. So in the end I decided to go to the drive in and we saw a million was to die in the west (still a great film the second time round). This morning I got up early to beat the shower cue and charge my phone. As I was about to leave my phone charging I bumped into Candice who told me her phone had been pinched over night ... I opted to stay with my phone! We had a quick breakfast before jumping in the van to head to Carlsbad Caverns. They were probably quite impressive ...

For some reason, I always forget how green Texas (especially central Texas) truly is. Maybe it's because I lived in North Carolina for 5 years, where the constant, unexpected-but-not-that-unexpected rain compels one to always be aware of the verdant Carolinian landscape. It doesn't rain quite so much in Texas, and despite the fact that I've lived here for 18 years, I'm always somewhat surprised by the miles and miles of greenery surrounding the less well-traveled parts of I-35.

... we felt frustration at not being able to capture the historic beauty we were walking though. It was also really dark throughout most of the cave. There were just so many twists and turns, small hills and holes, they made the cavern seem full of life, even though only a few species had adapted to these surroundings. We finished the trail and went to cook some dinner. Unfortunately, we did not realise that we had set up the propane burner near a red ants nest ...

... I’m doing it. She’s an aerialist on the show and I’m a former ballet dancer, so I think between the two of us, we’ll work well together. J I’ve retained a lot of my flexibility (my muscles just need a reminder) and after an hour of stretching, I was sore, but I felt great.
