Off the gringo trail

... We started in the main square, which is so enormous and packed with fountains that when you stand in the middle of it you can't hear the traffic surrounding you. We followed the red line for an hour or so, took some photos of sculptures, realised from the attention we drew that we were definitely off the gringo trail (Patrick got even more que lindos than usual), until the heat of the day forced us to quit being tourists. We went back to the gossipy-old-men ...

... Catholic mission in the 17th century, and has maintained some charming architecture as a result. If any of you readers are familiar with Abbeville, South Carolina (and I know some of you are), Iīd say thatīs the southern city that most captures the feel of Mercedes. Unfortunately, hiding under the picturesque exterior is a rip-off waiting to happen. I havenīt had any straight up bad lodging experiences since weīve gotten down here, except this one. Please take ...

... freshened the bathrooms for us. The highway outside of Quitilipi is lined with furniture making shops and piles of a dark reddish brown wood cut and ready for use. This is definitely the wood treatment and wood products area although the homes are made of adobe bricks not wood. A short drive to Resistencia gets into town early enough to get a sense of the space, shop and get settled in the municipal campground. Before we were settled we met and visited with a ...

Hey, its called the she'll be right tour for a reason.

Have been hearing back from a few of the people I have meet along the way and It seems we are all going to be in Bues Aires at the same time. So its going to be party party party!! Really looking forward to catching up with everyone! Otherwise its here ...

Posados and the ruins

We have finally moved on from the waterfalls, done enough picture taking and relaxing so now we are in posados. Posados is a nice little town, mainly known for its ruins, the ruins are of houses and towns made by Jesuits. They came over from Italy, Spain, Ireland, all to get people to follow in the religion. Now it is open for photo taking and little walks. Also there are a few nice little ...

... story and tuck him in! Posadas proved to be an eye opener. The travel agency had not organized our 1.5 hr transfer to Ituzaingo and the poor guy was meet at 7.30am by two sleepy backpackers who hadn't got a word of Spanish. Not surprising he hadn't a word of English and we learned the value of sign language! We eventually got the correct bus, but upon arrival discovered that the travel agency (yes he to be blamed again) never organized our pick up ...

... level seems to correspond to the distance away from the center of the city. Many people living nearer to the center of town had relatively modest homes, but near the outskirts of town, most of the homes are made of tin and thick cardboard scraps. It was a very humbling experience to see how some people live and has made me grateful for the good old USA.
