          The boat ride was great! We learn a lot about Lake Itasca's history and explorer Schoolcraft who discovered the start of the Mississippi. We saw some immature Eagles,Ospreys , and a pair of loons. One pair had their kids along. It was a nice way to spend two hours. Afterward, I ate at the lodge for lunch while Bud & Marilyn pedaled to the headwaters for more pictures and fudge of course. ...

          ... that! She said, I'll take your word for it. But even though I might not be a fast hill climber, I was proud of the fact that I never had to use my granny gear once on any of the hills we climbed today and that is sayin a lot believe me. To end the day, we decided to walk to the Douglas lodge for dinner. Here's the kicker, it was a 2.5 mile walk from the cabin and it seemed to be uphill both ways!           Dad woke me with a phone call in the morning, wondering when we were going fishing. I hauled myself out of bed and found Tom brewing coffee in the kitchen, and the view of a fairly peaceful lake out the window. By the time we pulled the boat out of the harbor, mom and dad were just arriving at the fishing spot in Allen's Bay. We went out to meet them.
