Took a shower, jumped off fellow travelers with a dead battery, and drove. Gas in Independence, MO. Saw a police chase that ended in a crash. Looked it up online later and saw pictures. Ate at Steak n Shake (terrible service made our stop an hour and a half) in Wentzville, MO. Got gas. Gas in Marston, MO. (See how we are never leaving Missouri?) This is in the northwest corner of Alabama on the Tennessee River. It is the music recording mecca with many recording studios of lots of famous singers like: Little Richard, Aretha Franklin, Rolling Stones, Tom Jones, Jimmy Buffet, Bob Segar and so on. ... a man-made canal that is five times longer than the Panama Canal. The entire waterway is 450 miles long, with 12 locks that let you down 341 ft. between Pickwick Lake at one end and Mobile Bay at the other.

We had great weather the entire week, but it has turned cloudy and cold the last two days. I don't think we will see any effects from Sandy but some of you, no doubt will. We'll sure be thinking of you and hope for the best wherever you are.
