      Saying Goodbye to Tennessee

I had bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast which was free from the hotel. I am sad to see Tennessee in my rearview mirror but I am headed to Atlanta. I drove through the mountains and then stopped for lunch at Chipotle for $9.30. I only ate half and will finish the rest for dinner. I stopped for gas in Atlanta at Chevron for $36.90.

Our journey to Fayetteville, Georgia was timed perfectly with the Thanksgiving holiday. Who else to best enjoy consuming mass quantities of food with then family? Lucky for us Casey's sister Lisa and husband Phil graciously extended an invitation. So we park our RV in a nearby storage lot and move into their lovely home to enjoy this special time.

Given that we arrived in the week leading up to the big event, we were able to jump in, roll up our sleeves, ...

It had nothing to do with gear or footwear or the backpacking fads or philosophies of any particular era or even with getting from point A to point B. It had only to do with how it felt to be in the wild. With what it was like to walk for miles for no reason other than to witness the accumulation of trees ...

... was totally mesmerising, and I could have stayed in there for hours. Whilst we were in there, they had a talk with a scuba diver, who was actually in the exhibit, and spoke to the audience through a very fancy dive mask connected to a speaker. The museum also had a frog exhibit, some touch pools, and one of my favourite animals, beluga whales. It was really nice to see animals that we haven't seen before, but no real substitute for seeing them in the world, and now I really want to ...

Arrived at Anthony's house, south of Atlanta, to sleep. Anthony, another of the adopted Driver brothers, was originally going on the trip with us, but work got in the way (hence the need for a second trip to Europe in the next year or so. Joel Tour 2014 anyone?).

Even though we staggered in at 1:30 am local time, any concerns about being too excited ...
