American West West Yellowstone

Der absolute Hammer...auch unser zweiter, dritter und vierter Tag im Yellowstone waren traumhaft, unbeschreiblich, spannend und dieses Mal hat sogar das Wetter mitgespielt. Wir haetten locker 1000 Fotos machen koennen, haben uns aber auf 200 beschraenkt :-) Wir haben Hunderte von Bisons (Amerikanische Bueffel), unzaehlige Elche, ca. 10 Koyoten, Springboecke, Gaense, Voegel, Squirrels, etc. gesehen. Die Elche hier sehen zwar eher wie grosse Hirsche aus, aber ...

... und das in wenigen Tagen...von wegen Kulturschock auf einer Weltreise, bei uns ist es ein Temperaturschock :-)<br><br>Jedenfalls dachten wir, unser California Rental Car hat sowieso nur Sommerpneus. Heute morgen haben wir aber festgestellt, dass alle anderen nur Sommerpneus haben und unser California Auto sogar bereit ist fuer die Passfahrten im Schnee :-)<br><br>Und da alle finden, wir sollten mehr Videos drehen, haben wir heute eine ganze Ladung gemacht :-)<br>

Old Faithful didn't disappoint. <br><br>Saw a beautiful bison at sunset. <br><br>Good<br>riding but the traffic made it more exhausting than necessary.<br>Apparently Yellowstone National Park gets 30,000+ visitors PER DAY!<br><br>More to come later... just wanted to post pics now while i have high-speed connection.

I have been wondering if there may be a demand for "Yosemite Bear World" located in Lee Vining....  ;)<br><br> <br>  From there we were on to West Yellowstone to stay at the Grizzly RV Park.  The place got a ton of good reviews from other travelers on Trip Advisor and when we arrived, the employees were very helpful.  No big RV problems today, so maybe we're done with ...

But previous 3-D IMAX experiences as well as all those nasty rides we took him on in Disneyland have scarred him and he freaked when he saw the size of the screen and the set up of the stadium seats. Lots and lots of reassurance and we managed to find a seat in side. A really big icecream helped a bit, until that was gone part way through the previews and he turned to us and begged to leave. ... Bij het bezoekerscentrum stond de geschatte tijd (plusminus 10 minuten) wanneer Old Faithfull zou afgaan...12:30....YESYESYES!!! Precies optijd !!! Men had rond de geiser bankjes gemaakt. Uiteraard begonnen deze al behoorlijk vol te raken. Aangezien we niks wilden missen zochten we een mooi plekje vooraan, met zon in de rug. Susanne vond dit prima, ze kon zo toch mooi nog even van de warmte genieten. Naarmate de tijd in de richting 12:30 kwam ging iedereen hun camera ...

Day 2 was very exciting. We again spent a full 12 hours on the road. Christa said "NO MORE GEYSERS AND THERMAL FEATURES" (emphasis intended :) ) we went throught the Madison River area pretty quickly but saw some cow elk ( which are now so apparently old hat that the girls refer to them as 'stupid cows' we are in surch of a real (Bull) elk. ... driving across a lake. pretty much noone else around. can't remember the cell coverage. did i drive through Montana? WY was a much less stressful drive. yellowstone was mostly closed due to snow. settled for mammoth springs.

... down the road again about 2:30 I headed south on 89 towards Yellowstone which I was hoping to see tomorrow. I reached Gardiner but turned around and retrace my path back along the Yellowstone River until I found a good stopping place. I had additional car stuff to do.
