... driving away from it the cam belt (think that's right) stopped working. As a result we got taxis to the south congress shopping street we were heading to, and Chris stayed with the Gordon the bus. In Houston we stayed the night in an 8 bed mixed dorm in the Monty Rich Hostel in the outskirts, which was nice and it had a pool. The accommodation was more like a town house (in fact it was a previous Mayor's house), but it didn't have the usual friendly hostel vibe, so we won't be rushing back. ... buried, Jackson Park with the statue of Louis Armstrong, crossed the river in a free ferry and walked around the historical and very cute place of Algiers and returned to Bourbon street with its street performers and more or less seedy clubs, bars and music places. ... this afternoon to update the gps software cause it's acting funny. Maybe have a snooze so I'm ready to do Mike and the Moonpies tonight at Stubb's. Stuff doesn't really get going till around 9pm.
That didn't work out very well. There was a very heavy rainfall while I was walking to Stubb's and I got soaked. When I got there I saw that the band I wanted to see didn't come on till 11:30. Just too late for me. Too bad but it was a great day...
