... set as Portugal, as we had a date with a music festival in Lisbon. Little to my pre-planning, it is quite the journey (12+hours) from Pamplona. Thus, it was set into two stages. We spent the nigh halfway at Salamanca, and were guilt tripped by the very passionate campsite owner into a visit to the city. Lucky we did because the town was amazing, and included a delicious contemporary Tapas dinner.
... the Portuguese started tiling in in the 16th century. By the 18th century, no other European country was producing as many tiles, for such a variety of purposes and in so many designs. the blue and white tiles of the Baroque era are considered by many to be the finest of quality.
Just walking around the city you see so many houses that are tiled that you can not pass by with out stopping and admiring the designs.

Mum awake early, looked out and saw a submarine alongside, managed to get photos of it coming up. Got up, had breakfast as we were coming into Lisbon, then went out on deck as we went under the big bridge, very odd as all metal construction, designed by an American architect who specialises in bridges in earthquake areas - very eerie sound as the cars passed over it and we under it! Mike created the list of bests and I would have concur with most. Each place we stayed had there own uniqueness, whether it was the view in Milfontes from our balcony, the great shower at the suite in Evora, the Internet capability in Elvas and it's antique decor, or the familiarity of the hotel in Lisbon - all were a thumbs up.
