Started our road trip today. We drove out of Dallas towards Jackson, Mississippi stopping along the way for lunch at Catfish Village that serves tradition southern food. We had more than our fill of deep fried EVERYTHING.

We arrived in Jackson and enjoyed a quick self guided tour around the city. We did accidentally find ourselves in the dodgier part of town. Thank goodness for our trusty nav man. ...

The next leg of our journey today after a quick visit to Jackson. I have to say, I'm glad it was only a quick visit. The hotel, situated just outside of Jackson, was not really one of the best we've stayed at, not uncomfortable, but none the less, not great. ... she was raised, cleaned and preserved. In 1977, she was placed in a special pavilion in the Vicksburg park, alongside a museum that had preserved personal items from the crew (none of whom died, but they had to leave everything behind) and tools and equipment from the ship. It was a very interesting display, and the signs describing what you could see were very informative.
