... to transfer and had only a little trouble finding our hotel. Who knew the numbers on each side of the calle went up and down in opposite directions!

This evening we went on a wine and food walking tour with Venice Wine Tours. Our guide was David. We had a group of 7....3 Australians, 2 Brits and us. We went to 5 bars, some very old and one newer in a more residential part of the city. Each bar had a different wine with chiccetti (Italian tapas). In the ...

... we had to cross the Rialto Bridge, all of this looks good on paper till you're hauling your weight in luggage. Walked the few blocks and found our room with shared bath, serviceable but not as charming as the one we stayed in when we were last here. Happily the room was ready and we semi unpacked and promptly crashed. It was just supposed to be for about 2 hours, but turned into 4. By the time we laid down, we'd been up for more than ...

... perfect day, with blue skies. It was exactly like the movies. There are no cars in Venice – just small sidewalks that run along canals. I walked around, and found the Grand Canal. It was especially crowded, but I found a nice quiet bench to sit for a bit, overlooking the canal. I didn’t do a gondola ride since I was alone, but wish I had.

I took the vaperetto back to the ship around lunchtime, but this time I didn’t board the Alilaguna. It stopped at every ...
