The reef is a National Park so it is very well preserved. Maurice took our group through the coral reef ranging from shallow depths of a metre to some deeper area around 3 metres deep. Along the way he pointed out the various statues that have been placed under the water in the past 15 years.

... had a good laugh. They had a couple of other boys somewhere in the restaurant area, and found they'd been sitting with some kiwi girls. And low and behold, one of the boys we found was a RAAFie. A gunny from Tindel. He was also one of the biggest social hand grenades I've ever seen. A real menace. And loves the RAAF. Even brought his day glow vest to go out in. But he was hilarious, in a 'I can't believe he did that' kind of way. He just did not care. So the party ...
We arrived in the middle of the afternoon to 30 degree heat and got the bus to the bus station in Cancun, which was only a block away from our hostel (good planning by me). We got changed (at which point I realised that I had not brought any underwear at all with me) and ventured out for a celebratory beer, which turned out to be Becky's only drink until my birthday 8 days later.
