We head out to the strip at midnight and head to Congo's where it was $25 a head for open bar. We looked at the club and decided our money is best utilised elsewhere as we are both very tired, hungry and just could not be bothered doing it all again so we head back to the hostel while the boys kick on. Good decision and we are back by 1ish and crash out very ...
... security contractors hired by the big hotels. Unarmed except for walkie talkies, their sole purpose seems to be signing tour buses and taxis in and out of the gates of the tourist resorts.
Drove through the large town of Playa del Carmen and stopped at a service station on the outskirts to pick up our guide Roberto who bought an esky of water. He also handed out some cookies and bananas, but reminded us that lunch was not included in the tour.
Day 1 The day began like any good holiday should- with two breakfasts; one at the airport and one on the plane. British Airways were impressive- efficient and pleasant service and the food was very good. Cottage pie with tabula salad and millionaire shortbread mousse I don't mind if I do!The couple next to me were very friendly, offering me sweets every half hour to the extent that I thought thatthey were intent on giving me diabetes... After landing and going through customs ...

We finally arrived at Chichen Itza and were given a guided tour. The temple and ruins were very impressive. We learnt a lot amazing facts about the Mayans.
