... friends of ours. We are still not sure if it is a male or female, though as time goes on I think it is a little girl, so we have named her Poppy after the Armistice Day symbol. ... to get to the top. It was his first real mountain climb and he wasn’t disappointed, the scenery was totally awesome with switchbacks through the woods at the bottom of the climb before getting ever steeper and slower before finally reaching the summit at 1490 metres, wow what an achievement! His best ride to date!

All in all we have had a brilliant few days, and now we are off to do some work!!

After Carcassonne we headed away to find a restaurant that Patrick and Jerome had raved about. Best Bean Cassoulet in the world! Took a while but we found it, and Eric the chef, who informed us that they were fully booked and couldn't seat us today. Never mind.

Headed in a roughly southwest direction looking for back roads to Andorra. Ended up staying Foix the night, Stuffed from some hard out riding, but happy.

After arriving in Pau and finally finding the Etape village I was able to get past the administrative chores and collect my race number etc etc.

We were amazed by the set up for the Etape village. Lots of stalls selling cycling gear, bikes, gels, bars jerseys, and the hottest items were certainly the rain jackets....given the forecast for tomorrow's event.

Difficult decision today, but we decided to split up Bronnie walked the day's hike as it passed beautiful mountain meadows which are her favourite environment. hans and Kathy decided to take the "luggage car" today as Hans's knee still presents a problem. Hans and Kathy had a fantastic drive along the road mentioned yesterday which was full of extreme hairpin bends. We dropped off Bronnie along the way so she could commence her hike. We spent the ...
