... then drove the 6 kms into Oloron Ste. Marie where we will do most of our shopping, it was gorgeous, green and a pretty town, we are quite excited. We then drove like stink to find a place for lunch before the 2pm cutoff, it was great, a salad for lunch! Back on the road again, we drove through the fabulous vineyards of Bordeaux, it seemed endless, we were struggling ...

... I soon learnt to look down when exiting the women's :-) Spent most of the day at different areas around the Sanctuary. It really is Disneyland for the religious. So many ancient beautiful buildings to look at. Lourdes is such a pretty town that I don't want to leave tomorrow :-( Dinner for just Miss and I tonight - Kevin all tuckered out and asleep already. We won't be far behind him. ......Miss and I NEED to stop eating ...

... a walk down to see the pilgrimage to the Grotte where people were filling there bottles with the water and being blessed. There were many souvenir shops all a bit much
At 9pm there is a massive gathering of 1000's that come here lookin for a miracle they march around singing ?
We cross into Spain tomorrow for a bit warmer weather as this the mountains Pyrenees

... meal out. Went into town to a great restaurant - gran cafe a eyor.: had 3 course meal, me, white asparagus, sucking pig, David, fish soup and steak. Everyone had the same dessert, a cassata like ice cream cake, with flaming brandy sauce. Very nice. Entertained by three troubadours playing guitars, and mandolin. They were very good and great entertainers. Lots of sangria to accompany. Lovely. Relaxing now. Busy day ...

... great and our room looks across to the original fort which guarded the area hundreds of years ago. Lourdes itself looks lovely although unsurprisingly now very commercialised. Looking forward now to going out for a walk with Peter, back for a meal and then off to join the procession to the Grotto at 9pm. Well, had our walk, inspiring place for all the souvenir shops and commercialism. Huge open spaces with every way possible for pilgrims and tourists ...
