      ... a while since they were in business. It's sad to see these mom and pop shops and hotels crumbling down. I guess when interstate 40 went in, folks could travel faster and stopped taking route 66. Small town America gone.

      As we neared the Texas border, there were more buttes and mounds flanking the highway...there were a few trees but mostly red, bare earth as we left New Mexico. ...

      ... 5 hours from Tunica. We got a big jump today and got way ahead of the storm. Thanks to Walmart for a big parking lot. It's time for sleep now.

      ... kids spent at least $5.00 buying $.50 bags of corn for the ducks. They had a ball. I was able to do laundry while the kids and Patrick swam in the salt water pool.
